This family-orientated tour is an ideal way for children of every age to discover some of Rome’s wackiest monuments. Using adapted words and concepts, the specially trained guide will encourage your children to learn interactively. At Piazza della Bocca della Verità, you’ll encounter the Mouth Of The Truth, a kind of lie detector. Will you be brave enough to put your hand inside and take a picture? Or are you worried about those little white lies? At Aventine Hill, take a peek through the keyhole to find out what’s on the other side. It’s a surprise, we can’t tell you any more! Up on Gianicolo Hill, on the other side of the River Tiber, prepare to be deafened by cannon fire. Is the city under siege? Just remember to cover your ears. At the Capuchin Crypt, there are bones, bones everywhere. You’ll come across the skulls, vertebras, thigh bones and shoulder blades used to decorate the “Bone Church”. But, don’t worry, it isn’t as scary as it sounds.

ITINERARY
This half-day tour will take you to some of the strangest and wackiest places in Rome. We don’t want to give the game away, but you’ll encounter firing cannons, dusty bones, lie detectors and more as you explore the center of Rome from Piazza della Bocca della Verità to Aventine Hill. NB - to be able to see the cannon firing on Gianicolo Hill, the tour would need to start at 9.30am.

Originally from Rome, I was an archaeologist for more than ten years before deciding to set aside the dusty books and archives and work with people, using my skills to show Rome to the incoming visitors. My speciality as a guide is Ancient Rome but I also like to talk about the Baroque and Renaissance periods of the city.
