The Tour de France 2016, world top sporting event

Created in 1903, the Tour de France is today the world’s third biggest sporting event. This 3 week-long race held every year in July, attracts the best cyclists from every corner of the globe who celebrate the mountains and realize impressive performance while offering a great discovery of beautiful natural landscapes.

This year 2016, on its 103rd edition, the Tour de France will run from July 2nd to 22nd and start in the French department of Manche for the first time in its history.

22 teams of 9 racers, will cross some of the most beautiful sites in France such as the Mont Saint-Michel, Carcasonne (city of the medieval castle) and the Parc des Oiseaux (the birds’ park) in Montelimar, but also some of the most difficult sites in the mountains such as Pau, bagnères de Luchon and Albertville, passing also through some neighboring countries such as Spain, Andorra, and Switzerland.

During the race, 21 stages will be scheduled for a total of 3519 kilometers (2187 miles), so 158,7 km (99 mi) more than last year. The cyclists will still have the same number of rest days, with one additional individual time trial.

A fabulous event bringing more than 12 million spectators lining the route to cheer on the cyclists and more than 3.5 billion viewers from 190 countries.

This 2016 Grand Départ will start from Mont Saint Michel in the English Channel and finish in Andorra.

While the rider Chris Frome will defend his title of first rider With Froome, some others such as Alberto Contador and Nairo Quintana will be looking to gain some places.
We wish them all good luck in their success and we look forward to seeing them crossing the wind
