Silk is part of the Lyonnaise Culture since the Renaissance. First established in the Vieux Lyon, then relocated on the hill of the Croix Rousse in the 19th century at its peak, it remains one of the pillars of economic development of the city. During this walk, you will discover the history of silk in Lyon, guided by a professional and passionate guide. Strolling in the neighborhood of Croix Rousse you through the alleyways and explore small populated ancient streets of the workshops where the silk weavers were working and once again today. You will also discover the intricacies of the profession by attending a weaving demonstration and a silk painting demonstration using traditional methods. Throughout your journey, you will be able to buy silk fashion accessories.

ITINERARY

Departing from the Croix Rousse district, you will follow your guide for a trip back in time to discover the Lyon silk and its history. You descend the hill slopes through the alleyways to Place Bellecour and the Town Hall and you arrêboth enjoy local pastries. On your way, you will attend a weaving demonstration and a demonstration of painting on silk with a craftsman while your guide will tell the story of this noble fabric.
