A few kilometers north of Lyon, the green and hilly Beaujolais region awaits you. World famous for its Beaujolais nouveau, the region offers a large range of very different wines. This wine tour will take you to several wineries and show you the unsuspected richness of this wine region.
To start the day, you will be in the charming medieval village of Oingt in the south of Beaujolais. Listed as one of The Prettiest Villages in France, this golden stone village is the perfect place to learn about the history and geology of this region. The tour will continue with a visit to a family-run winery in the Beaujolais Villages appellation, birthplace of the Beaujolais Nouveau. You will meet the winemaker who will tell you everything about his work and treat you to a tasting of his wines accompanied by a “Mâchon”: the traditional snack of the region. 
On the advice of your guide, you will be able to have lunch in one of the many traditional restaurants of the region. You will have a large choice of regional specialties that you can pair with the regional wines to keep discovering new flavors.
You will then take the beautiful wine route which will offer you stunning sceneries. The opportunity to discover the unique geology of this region. You will visit a second winery, in the Crus region this time. You will be able to enjoy the aromatic richness of these appellations: Fleurie, Moulin à Vent, Morgon, Juliénas…Certain estates produce a wide selection of appellations that allows you to discover the vineyards in all their complexity. Finally, you will drive even further north, where, again, you will be surprised by the complex aromatic palette of this region.

ITINERARY

Get away from Lyon time one day and discover the beautiful Beaujolais region and its golden stones. Aboard your minivan and accompanied by your expert guide, you will travel through the green and peaceful landscape of the Lyon countryside to the picturesque medieval village of Oingt. You will also cross other small charming villages with possibility to make stops to enjoy the view and make beautiful pictures. You will visit two wineries where you can taste different wines of Beaujolais and learn their history. Your day will continue in the historic center of the town of Villefranche sur Saône, where you will participate in a cooking class for two hours on the theme of wine. You can then enjoy your dishes before returning to Lyon with your driver.
