Thelma, private guide for Unique Tours Factory

Sintra, Mafra, literature, seven hills of Lisbon, tastings
LANGUAGES :
Anglais/English, Espagnol/Spanish, Portuguais/Portuguese
Born in Sydney from Portuguese parents, I came back to Portugal twelve years later with my family. After completing my degree in Tourism at the University of Lisbon, I started to work as a guide in the double Decker buses before becoming a freelance guide in a local tourism agency. Soon after, I decided to create my own guiding business because I wanted to plan "non-touristic tours" and show Portugal as locals see it. Living in Sintra, I love to organize guided tours there, as well as in Lisbon and its surroundings. Meeting with people from all across the world and sharing with them my beautiful country is one of the best parts of my job. When I am not guiding, I enjoy taking photographs, but also reading. Follow me in the beautiful cities of Sintra and Mafra, enjoy an original literary tour, or immerse into the authentic Lisbon on a private walking tour. ...read more

Gothic architecture, medieval, night tour
LANGUAGES :
Anglais/English, Espagnol/Spanish, Portuguais/Portuguese
I was born and raised near Lisbon. Passionate about my country, people and customs, I chose to study tourism and hospitality. I started working as a tour guide for large groups and then moved into the hospitality industry, before going back to guiding, this time sharing the beauty and history of Portugal with small private groups. Since 2001, I have been an independent certified tour guide and driver providing customized tours based on my customers’ requirements. My favorite topics to cover are history, art history and ethnology, botany, geography, politics and architecture. During my tours, you will be taken off the beaten track to discover hidden villages, Romanesque sites and picturesque churches – the Troncalhada salt pans are a must! Why am I so passionate about guiding? Because I enjoy getting to know people from all over the world, while sharing the most unusual and beautiful corners of Europe’s magnificent western coast. Although it is a small country, there is so much to discover! ...read more

Enrique, private guide for Unique Tours Factory

Food tour, historical, highlights
LANGUAGES :
Espagnol/Spanish, Anglais/English, Portuguais/Portuguese
Born and raised in Madrid, I am a professional tour guide with a degree in art history and a PHD in nineteenth century art. Passionate by tour guiding and tourism in general, I decided eight years ago to create my own company with a little team of local experienced guides, speaking English, Spanish, Portuguese, Greek, German and Russian. Also a blogger, I love to write articles about Madrid's history and legends. Little streets, hidden places, secret stories... There are a lot of unknown parts in the Spanish Capital and I enjoy bringing people there and showing them how locals live. With us, you will have a true perception of Madrid, going through the best foodie haunts during a gastronomy tour, discovering the history of Madrid sculptures, visiting the different neighborhoods, and learning how to play card games in local tavernas. We have decided to start doing tours in Lisbon as well as it is one of the major cities in the Iberian peninsula, and believe or not we consider Portugal and the Portuguese as our brothers. I have a close connection with some friends in Lisboa which I met in my tourism guiding career, so we decided to join forces and start offering in their city the concept of uniqueness that has built us! Portugal and Spain have a very close relationship in many ways, but history is the one that connects us the most, especially after the addition of Portugal to Spain in around 1580 by the king of Spain Felipe II. Also on the times of the catholic kings and through the "Tratado de Tordesillas" which divided the Atlantic Ocean and "The new world" in two parts, one for the kings Isabel y Fernando and the Other for Juan II king of Portugal. As a lover of this city for its unique feeling and the passion for our beloved Peninsula, the project began on the hands of our trusted colleagues in the Portuguese side, and here we are... trying to make visitors enjoy and love as much as our team does, the greatest corners of this amazing land called "The iberian Peninsula" NOTE : my tours could also be guided by Ignacio or Marta. ...read more

Joao, private guide for Unique Tours Factory

Wine tasting, dolphin, sightseeing, gourmet
LANGUAGES :
Portuguais/Portuguese, Espagnol/Spanish, Anglais/English, Allemand/German
A German born in Portugal, I was raised in England, Spain and Germany before coming back to Portugal, my adopted country. Working in finance for 20 years allowed me to visit most of Portugal, and decide I wanted to live out my passion: travel. Passionate about the road and eager for new experiences and encounters, I like to get lost in a new place and find my way by making new friends and getting to know their culture. As I wanted to share my excitement for travel and discovery of remote places, I started to organise some trips for my friends, family and colleagues, focusing on the important things in life. The decision of changing career came then naturally so I created a little travel company showing the wild and unseen parts of Portugal. With my customized tours and trips, I try to give another image of Portugal, a beautiful and tolerant country opened to languages, cultures and religions, but with a strong identity and history. With my fantastic team of tour guides, I organise and polish up quality tours in Portugal, which focus on nature and culture, always far from crowded touristic paths. During my tours, you will stimulate your senses learning local tips and lifestyles: seeing wildlife, catching wild fish, going to fresh markets, eating in traditional restaurants, making your own jam, enjoying tasting liqueur and learning about its 450 years old recipe, as well as many more exclusive experiences. PS : my tours could also be guided by Paulo or Rodrigo. ...read more
