Old Jewish Ghetto of Venice since the early 16th century, the Cannaregio evolved like an island until the 18th century. Surrounded by the Grand Canal, it gradually became the epicenter of Venetian life. During this afternoon stroll, discover local life to capture the vibrant and authentic atmosphere of this beautiful neighborhood, as well as its economical, social and political aspects. Mingle with watercolor enthusiasts, street painters and photographers walking on bridges and balconies; admire the gondolas splitting the water, watch the artisans at work, discover secret gardens and venture out in small souvenir shops. Along the streets, you will pass near emblematic places such as the Madonna de l'Orto Church and the Misericordia Church. With your local guide, you will learn the history of Cannaregio neighborhood where the painters Titian and Tintoretto used to live during the 16th century. During your walk, you will also enjoy a pleasant private boat tour along the Grand Canal and the little canals, as well as an aperitif in a typical wine bar in the Rialto district.

ITINERARY

You will join your guide at the "Ca' d'Oro" vaporetto (line 1) stop from where you will start your walking tour. You will stroll in the picturesque streets of the Cannaregio district, considered as one of the most authentic part of Venice because many Venetians live there. You will discover all the authenticity and historic charm of the city animated by the locals. As you walk, you will pass close by numerous iconic locations such as as the Madonna de l'Orto Church and the Misericordia Church. To discover the city from another point of view, you will then embark on a private boat tour along the Grand Canal and the little canals. Then, you will enjoy an aperitif (drink) and soak up the local atmosphere in of the wine bars in the Rialto neighborhood.

Passionate about art, I am also a musician, photographer and painter who really trust his senses in order to create originals guided tours which deeps visitors in the real Venice, off the beaten tracks, for a more sustainable way to discover the city and its secrets. To me, Venice is much more than the Piazza San Marco, the Doge's Palace or the Rialto Bridge; it is the narrow streets, the people, the old cafes, the bacari, the local gastronomy, the spritz, the ciccheti, the canals, and all the stories and traditions who make the city so lively. Visit the fresh markets and learn about the Venetian gastronomy, discover Venice little paths, or enjoy a photography experience in the fishing areas and the lagoon around the city.
