Jozef's TEAM | about the guide

Love history and architecture? Curious to find out more about Leonardo da Vinci? This private tour will take you to the heart of the Loire Valley to discover two of its most charming chateaux: the Chateau d’Amboise and the Chateau du Clos Lucé. Perched on a rocky outcrop, the Château d’Amboise began life as a Gallic oppidum, was replaced by a feudal fortress and was completely rebuilt in the 15th and 16th century. You’ll explore one of the first royal residences to bring Italian tastes and style to the Loire Valley, as well as admiring the tomb of Leonardo da Vinci in the château’s chapel. The Château du Clos Lucé, one of the smallest in the Loire, was the official residence of Leonardo da Vinci from 1516 until his death in 1519. You’ll explore the splendid interior of this 15th century château connected to the Chateau d’Amboise by a 500m underground passageway, which is now a museum dedicated to the Italian painter and inventor. To finish off your day, you’ll enjoy a private wine-tasting session at a local wine producer in the nearby village of Vouvray.

I’m originally from Czechoslovakia and I worked in numerous countries before settling in France, attracted above all by the history, wine and my fiancée! I graduated from Hotel Management School, before training as a sommelier. With experience working in Germany, London, France and Singapore, seven years ago, I decided to set up my own guiding company, focusing initially on the wines regions around the River Loire, Champagne & Burgundy. I’m fascinated by history, particularly World War II, and have taken specialist courses to deepen my understanding. During my tours, I - or one of my partner guides - will take you beyond Paris to Normandy, the Loire Valley, Giverny and the Champagne region. You’ll get unique insights in French wine, history and architecture, while uncovering secrets and stories that bring the country to life. I’m a big fan of mountain biking and I like spending time with my family and meeting new people.
