Leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind and spend a day in the beautiful Dombes region. With your chauffeur and professional guide, you will leave Lyon on a comfortable vehicle and travel south to explore the countryside and its natural wonders. You will stop first in the medieval village of Châtillon sur Chalaronne. There, you will venture in the cobbled streets with your guide and see several historical remains. You will also discover the covered market dating back to the 15th century. You will continue to a private pond where your guide will tell you about the local ecosystem and the different birds living in the surroundings. At lunchtime, you will head to the restaurant "Menu Grenouilles" (Menu Frogs) where you will be able to try some frogs, a local specialty. In the afternoon, you will head to the Château de Fléchères, an impressive 17th century castle located 30km from Lyon. Listed as historic monument, it is famous for its beautiful frescoes dating back to 1632. You will enjoy a complete guided tour in the château and learn about its history and renovation. At the end of the day, your guide will drive you back to Lyon. Please note this tour is only available from March till October.

ITINERARY
Spend a unique day around Lyon and discover the scenic Dombes region. Born in Lyon but raised in the Lyonnaise countryside, I am an art historian and guide lecturer. During my studies, I lived in Seville and Irlande before completing a Master Degree in art history specialized in architecture. Passionned by cultural heritage and architecture, I wanted to become an archeologist but the sharing and transmission dimension was lacking. So I started to work as a tour guide, leading tours in french, english and spanish. After spending a few years with scholar groups in Spain and United Kingdom, I decided to become independant and created my own agency to show my beautiful region off the beaten track: Lyon, the Beaujolais, the Dombes, the Bresse and Bourgogne; there are many hidden sites with a rich historical heritage such as the Château de Fléchères. Being a tour guide is to me the most fascinating job, as it allows me to live out of my passion, as well as meeting with people from all round the world, all with great ease. Beside the cultural, historical and archeological information they receive during the tours, my goal is to provide visitors with an unforgettable experience - something they can remember as a good day filled with wonderment, exchange and discovery.
