London Highlights Tour

Emblematic sights from Westminster Abbey to the Tower of London

WITH
Denisa | about the guide

London is filled with centuries of history and culture, as well as the legacy of remarkable individuals. Discover some of its most emblematic sights during a full day tour with an expert guide who’ll tell you about how the city developed and the key figures who made the city what it is today from Henry VIII to Nelson and Elizabeth II. From your meeting place at Westminster Abbey, you’ll take a leisurely stroll around Parliament Square and inside the abbey itself. Now, it’s time to amble over to the Queen’s official residence, Buckingham Palace. This will take you through delightful St. James Park and, if you’re lucky, you’ll have the chance to see the famous Ceremony of the Guards. You’ll walk past more royal residences to reach the Mall and then Trafalgar Square, the very heart of London. Admire Nelson’s Column, the National Gallery and the many statues lining the square before hopping onto a red double decker to St Paul’s Cathedral. Close to the Thames River, this is the ideal place to stop for lunch. You can choose where to eat, although fish and chips are highly recommended. Now that you are refueled, it’s back to some serious sightseeing with a tour around the stunning domed cathedral itself. After this, you’ll discover the City of London, the capital’s financial district and the oldest part of the city, as you wander past medieval architecture and modern glass buildings. If you’re feeling tired, you could always hop on another bus at this point. Your destination? The Tower of London. Famous for its Beefeaters (Yeoman Warders) and treacherous prisoners, the tower has been the stage of many historic events and bloody executions, which you’ll find out more about during a guided visit around the turrets and dungeons. The tour finishes here, although it can, at any point be adjusted to your needs and pace, for example by skipping certain stops. Just remember that if take on the tour on Sunday, Westminster Abbey and St Paul’s cathedral may be closed for worship.

In love with London, I moved there several years ago and completed the Blue Badge guide course which entitles me today to guide visitors through many different places and sites in London and its surroundings, including their historical and cultural facts. I have always been interested in tourism: as a little girl sitting at my desk at home, with an atlas and other various guide books around me, I tried to sell tours to family members. Then, as a teenager I found the perfect summer job as a tour guide in one of the many castles in the Czech Republic. My relationship with that castle lasted over ten years. To pick a course at University was a piece of cake, anything tourism related. After three years, I was the proud holder of a Management in Tourism degree and a National Tour Guiding certificate for the Czech Republic. Throughout my studies I have detoured a little bit, spending some years abroad working as a Flight Attendant for easyJet: still in tourism but just a different sector... I am now packed with knowledge and experience and it will be my pleasure to take you on one of my tours to show you the wonderful city of London

One of the many highlights of our trip to Europe was our full day tour with Denisa. Denisa's knowledge of London made our London experience extra special. We would have never been able to garner the knowledge she provided by doing the tourist thing on our own. We were able to use the knowledge she provided to plan the remainder of our stay in London and get the most of our trip. We would highly recommend Denisa and the tour of London to any and all persons going to London for the first time! Thanks Denisa, R&R

"I wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful tour with Paul (Denisa’s colleague) on Saturday. We enjoyed it greatly, all the detailed information he provided, and also his patience with our small children! Since Westminster Abbey was closed, Paul indicated that we would be due some money back. However, we would like to give this excess money to Paul as a tip to recognize the excellent service he provided. Can you please ensure that this happens? We appreciated you arranging such a nice tour, and look forward to contacting you again in the future when we return to London. Best regards, " - Mars 2017 Michaël, USA
